As with anything in life, there are advantages and disadvantages
to both options.
Many of our clients complain that FCCPT fees are high and
they take forever to send reports.
IERF, on the other hand, charges lesser fees and provides
faster reports.
IERF, it seems, is a very good option for physiotherapists that
have documents written in English, such as candidates from England, India,
Philippines, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada (non Quebec)
Nigeria and a host of other African countries. If the documents are written in
a language other than English, the comparison tips in favor of FCCPT, despite
the longer wait periods.
Why is that? Simple. While FCCPT requires a certified translation
of sections of the syllabus, IERF requires everything translated in syllabus,
except for the bibliography. That requirement can be costly indeed. Let us take
an extreme case. There is a university in Colombia, Universidad Manuela Beltran,
that issues transcripts with 850 to 1700 pages. The typical per-page
translation company (not us) will likely charge between US$17,000 to US$34,000,
even though several of these pages are almost empty. Although we take a
different approach to pricing, it would still be in the neighborhood of US$10,000.00,
after a heavy discount.
We recently quoted a set of documents from Universidad
Santiago de Cali, for use with IERF. The syllabus was not as long as UMB’s, but
still, it had 100,000 words and 285 pages. We provided a very competitive quote,
yet, the client said she did not have that kind of money and had already paid
the IERF fee. I have no idea whether she decided to hold on the project for now
or went looking for an even more competitive quote. For sure, the IERF fee advantage
is wiped out by the cost of the certified translation. Translating only
sections of the syllabus would have cost 15% of the regular price for the
entire document.
Additionally, translating a full long syllabus (IERF option)
takes much more time than translating sections of it (FCCPT option), so there
are time considerations as well.
Therefore, if you have physical therapy documents in a language
other than English, consider these factors before paying fees and being stuck.
Whatever your choice, we are here to provide the best
physical therapy syllabus translation money can buy.
